Who You Are Matters
Hi Everyone!
My name is Annie, I’m from Long Island New York, and I am a Music Industry major. I started at USC as a Creative Writing major and switched, but have discovered over time that my passion and talent remains in the world of writing! While I love going to school in Southern California, my home-body nature will surely drive me back to somewhere in New York, where I can remain in close proximity to my family and feel entirely in my element. I tell myself that I will go wherever my career, passion and interests take me, but I would be lying if I said I’m not hoping it takes me home!
On the topic of being close to my family, I take pride in the many characteristics I share with my parents. My mom is bursting with love and care for her family, and will do anything for them, as I would do for those around me. We both share the same intense passion for health and wellness, and love to spread our knowledge to those around us, so they can better their lives and health too. Then there is my dad, who is certainly the funniest person I know; he is witty, comedic, and endlessly entertaining, which is how people may describe me, if I do say so myself! He is also extremely intelligent, which I thoroughly hope to emulate. Unlike them, however, I know how to get out of a mood quickly, or at least not let it affect those around me. But who am I to judge, it must be hard handling four chaotic kids everyday!
My driven mindset and yearning to always keep busy has certainly manifested itself as a chip on my shoulder, and produced self made expectations. I’m grateful to have nothing but support and praise from those around me, and know that my biggest critic is myself. While it may sound cliché, my boyfriend is the first person who comes to mind when thinking of someone who lives with great passion and personal responsibility; he is the most hardworking, independent person I’ve ever met and has brought about such motivation within me. Just observing his work ethic has made me a more ambitious person, and is a big part of the reason I got into USC!
I certainly feel a connection with dolphins, an animal that is inherently entertaining and known for their playful nature and sense of community. I definitely feel that their energy and zest mirrors mine, as both of our purposes are to dance, entertain and make others smile.
Memories of the blueberry bushes at my summer camp will always stay with me, as I will never understand how some are edible and some are not. I remember eating them, but in my head I think of them as poisonous. Maybe I’m confusing them with the ones from The Hunger Games…
Lastly, my birth chart is
Sun Sign - Aquarius
Moon Sign - Capricorn
Rising Sign - Scorpio
Reading this blog was so entertaining! I can definitely see why you said you relate a lot to your dad's personality.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was little, I was also fascinated by dolphins due to their lifestyle and energy. I've never seen one, though... but that's one of my bucket list items!

ReplyDeleteHi Annie! I really liked that you chose dolphins as your animal. I used to love watching pods swim along to coastline when I was little in Cape May, New Jersey. I am also constantly amazed by how intelligent they are, and I am convinced they'd be the smarter species if they had opposable thumbs!
ReplyDeleteHi Annie! Loved your blog post! I also agree with the part about blueberry bushes, my grandma always had some and I remember about half of them being edible and the other half not being edible. So confusing...
ReplyDeleteHi Annie! I absolutely loved your blog post. Your tone of voice and writing style align with the personality you described of your parents, which I also enjoyed reading about.
ReplyDeleteIf you're a big fan of dolphins, now is the perfect time to visit local beaches in the South Bay like Torrance, Redondo, and Hermosa Beach. The past few times I went to the beach back home, I saw a few pods of dolphins along the coastline.
Your Capricorn placement makes sense as you described yourself as witty, smart, goal-driven, and passionate. Some of my best friends who have Capricorn placements have gone on to do amazing things in their career, so I wish you the best of luck!

Hi Annie! I really enjoyed reading your post + the hunger games reference :) My mom & I bond over our passion for health and wellness too!
ReplyDeleteHey Annie! I do think dolphins are definitely very cool to feel close too. It's always nice to see them swim up in the ocean.
